Weekly goals:
Written Skills: Triads and seventh chords
Aural Skills: Continue to drill scales and short stepwise melody, add another set of intervals, Mm 6ths, Mm 7ths.
Recognize triad quality and inversions.

Students will be able to sing stepwise melodies and keep tonal center.
Students will aurally identify and write on staff paper melodic dictation.
Students will review intervals with singing and ear training.
Students will review root position chords and be able to identify Mm triads.
Materials: AP Music theory workbook, notebook, pencils, projector, piano, staff paper.

Activity:
- Give 1 melodic dictations. On staff paper. 8 measures, 4/4, stepwise.
-Play on the piano Major/minor chords and have the students identify whether it is major
or minor.
Word Box: bass note, invert, root position, first inversion, second inversion.
-Go over 1st and 2nd inversion chords, identify visually and aurally.
-Lowest note determines the inversion.
Tonic/Bass=root position
3rd=1st inversion
5th=2nd inversion
-Lets invert the bottom bass note.
-Up an octave higher. Base note is now the 3rd
of the chord. This is called First Inversion. 6.

by peers.
Assessment:
Have an easier understanding of Mm triads in root, 1 st and 2nd inversion.
Students will be able to do melodic dictation with little to no error.

Students will be able to hear intervals and write which one theyre hearing.
