Phi Kappa Psi was founded on February 19, 1852 at Jefferson College in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania by William Henry Letterman and Charles Page Thomas Moore. It was the first national fraternity to be founded in the United States. The fraternity grew rapidly in the late 19th century and established chapters at colleges across the country.
