a.) Define decimals
b.) Discuss decimals involving multiplication and division
c.) Solve problems pertaining to decimals

II.

SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Multiplication and Division with Decimals
Reference : Elementary Algebra
Materials : Visual Aids and Marker

III.

PROCEDURE
A.) 1. Motivation
2. Discussion
3. Group Activity

B.) LESSON PROPER

A decimal refers to a number that is written with a decimal point ( ). And now
lets proceed to multiplication. To multiply two decimal numbers, multiply as if they are whole
numbers. Count the total number of decimal places of the multiplicand and multiplier. This sum
is the number of the decimal places in the product. Place decimal point by counting the sum of
the decimal places from right to left. Lets have an example

Okay lets proceed to division with decimal. To divide decimal numbers move
the decimal point in the divisor until it becomes a whole number. Move the
decimal point of the dividend the same number of places as in the divisor to the
right, adding zeros if necessary. Place the decimal point in the quotient directly
above the new decimal point in the dividend. Divide the number as if they are
whole numbers.

SUMMARY
A decimal refers to a number that is written with a decimal point. In the
multiplication, you have to multiply two decimal numbers, multiply it as if they are

whole number. If the product is already done place the decimal point according to the
decimal places. In the division, you will be able to move decimal point in the divisor
until it becomes a whole number. And divide it as if they are whole number.

ENRICHMENT:
Solve all the problems in the top of set of boxes. Each answer in the top boxes matches an
answer in the bottom boxes. Discover the question and answer by writing each word from the top
