The passage discusses the concept of Ghataka Chakra, which refers to negative experiences that can manifest in 5 dimensions and are indicated by inauspicious planetary positions. Ghataka Chakra is used in matching horoscopes to determine compatibility.

The five dimensions of Ghataka are Ghataka Chandra, Ghataka Tithi, Ghataka Nakshatra, Ghataka Vara, and Ghataka Sthana.

The two reference models used to understand Ghataka are the Ghataka Chakra table and Ghataka tithi chakra table.

Ghataka Chakra By Katti Narahari

Ghataka means an experience of an extreme negative sense, both mentally as well as

physically. The extremity can range from killing, main or to hurt generating an injury.
Just like the Panchanga has 5 dimensions relating to quality of time, Ghataka can play out in
5 dimensions relating to quality of dangers. The five dimensions of Ghataka are as follows

Ghataka
Ghataka
Ghataka

Ghataka

Chandra This refers to the moon transiting an inauspicious Rasi indicating

or danger
Tithi The inauspicious lunar day or tithi indicating Ghataka or danger
Nakshatra The inauspicious nakshatra that indicates Ghataka or danger
Vara The inauspicious weekday indicating Ghataka or danger
Sthana The inauspicious place the danger could manifest.

Principles of Ghataka Chakra

The ancient rishis have taught two reference models with which the Ghataka can be
understood. I have put these two reference models in the form of two tables. Table 1 is
called the Ghataka Chakra while table 2 is called Ghataka tithi chakra.

Interpretation of Ghataka Chakra

Taking an example of a person whose natal Chandra is in Sagittarius (Janma Rasi), the native
will have to be very careful whenever moon is transiting Pisces or Dvija (another name for
Bharani nakshatra). The native must also be careful when the weekday happens to be
Friday and the lunar day happens to be Tritiya (3), Ashtami (8),trayodasi (13) as these thitis
are a part of the Jaya tithi group. Now, if many of these Ghataka elements happen together,
then extreme danger is to be expected.

Ghataka Chakra usage in matching horoscopes

When matching horoscopes there is a predominant usage of the 36 points
matching. The tradition has always warned us not to use the 36 point system as
the only benchmark for matching horoscopes. Other methods like sama-sapthaka,
Upapada and subhapathi lords matching gives a very good picture, one needs to
also use Ghataka chakra concepts for matching. The basic principle is to find out
the presence of Ghataka elements in the charts of the partners. For example
Ghataka tithi of a partner should not fall in the Ghataka tithi of the other partner
and vice versa. To illustrate this principle, I have below charts of married couple
who have been married for many years, but the quality of married life is very bad.
Husband Panchami Tithi, Ashwini Nakshatra, Mesha Janma Rasi
Wife Pratipat, Punarvasu Nakshatra, Mithuna Janma Rasi

Ghataka Charka Horoscope Matching A Ready Reckoner

1. Determine the Janma Rasi of Husband. Call it JR (H)
2. Determine the Janma Tithi of Husband. Call it JT (H)
3. Determine the Ghataka Tithi applicable to husband using table 1. Call this GT
(H)
4. Determine the Janma Rasi of Wife. Call it JR (W)
5. Determine the Janma tithi of Wife. Call it JT (W)
6. Determine Ghataka Tithi applicable to wife. Call this GT (W)
If JT (W) = GT (H), then wife will inflict cruelty and/or injury on the husband.
If JT (H) = GT (W), then the husband will inflict cruelty and/or injury on the wife.
Lets apply the above formulas to the charts of the husband and wife.
Husband
1. Determine the Janma Rasi of Husband. Call it JR (H) Mesha - Aries
2. Determine the Janma Tithi of Husband. Call it JT (H) Panchami
3. Determine the Ghataka Tithi applicable to husband using table 1. Call this GT
(H). As per table 1, we find that for Mesha Janma Rasi, The Ghataka
(Danger/injury/cruelty) Tithis are Pratipat (1), Shashti (6) and Ekadashi (11).
They form the Nanda category belonging to the Jala tatwa, controlled by
Venus. (We do not take Chandra as Jala tatwa as the issue here is marriage
matching). Hence GT(H) are Pratipat(1), Shashti(6) and Ekadashi(11)
4. Determine the Janma Rasi of Wife. Call it JR (W) Mithuna Gemini
5. Determine the Janma tithi of Wife. Call it JT (W) Pratipat(1)
6. Determine Ghataka Tithi applicable to wife. Call this GT (W). As per table 1,
we find that for Mithuna Janma Rasi, the Ghataka (Danger/injury/cruelty)
Tithis are Dwitiya (2), Saptami (7) and Dwadashi (12). They form the Bhadra
Group belonging to tatwa category of Prithiwi, ruled by Mercury.
JT (W) = Pratipat (1) and GT (H) has Pratipat hence fulfilling the parampara dictum.
This means that the wife dominated by the want of more money (Prithiwi tatwa) will
inflict cruelty on the husband who is dominated by Jala tatwa, making his wants
more Venus oriented.
JT (H) = Panchami and GT (W) are Dwitiya (2), Saptami (7) and Dwadashi (12) and is
clear that Panchami is not in the list. Hence the husband relationship with the wife
naturally is good, but with no reciprocation.
