    As part of our efforts to foster a school climate of respect for ones self and others, and as an
    important piece of our grade 5-12 curriculum, we will begin our unit on Family Life and Sexual
    May 2016
    Health (FLASH) on _________.
    The program was developed by Public Health- Seattle& King
    County and is adopted by Seattle Schools. You are welcome to preview the program online at

    The curriculum is abstinence based, age and developmentally aligned, encourages parent/child
    communication, and promotes students health and safety. If you have any questions you can
    contact the District Health Education Office: Helen Walsh, 252-0988 (grade 5), Lisa Davidson,
    252- 0859 (middle school) or Lisa Love, 252-0982 (high school).
    Your student may come home with questions or wish to discuss these topics further with you.
    This is a private communication for the family. Your student will never be asked to share these
    conversations. The objective is to affirm that parents and guardians are the primary teachers
    for these important topics.
