Commutative Powerpoint

The document discusses the commutative property of addition, which means that the order of the numbers being added does not matter. It states that 2 + 3 equals 3 + 2. It provides examples of addition problems and their commutative property equivalents, such as 5 + 1 equaling 1 + 5. It also includes links to videos and activities that allow students to practice applying the commutative property.

Objectives:
Students will be able to apply properties of operations as strategies to
add.

Students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the

commutative property by rearranging the order of addition
problems.

Standards:
CCS MATH CONTENT 1.OA.B.3
Understand and apply properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction.
Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract. Examples: If 8 + 3 = 11 is known, then 3 + 8 = 11 is also known.
