INTRODUCTION
In a heat exchanger, heat is transferred from hot fluid to cold fluid through metal wall
which generally separates these fluids. Heat transfer through metal wall is always by conduction
while on both sides of the metal wall, heat transfer is generally by convection. Resistance
offered to heat transfer by the metal wall is negligible as compared to resistance offered by
convection.
The experiment aims to determine the overall heat transfer coefficient making rise of
logarithmic mean temperature difference, moreover, to verify the Dittus-Boetter equation for
turbulent flow heat transfer, all with the use of double pipe heat exchanger.

DISCUSSION OF RESULT
The Experimental data obtained are evidently of significant difference as compared to
the hypothetical data. This has to be due to the number of non-ideal situations encountered
while recording such data and performing the experimentation. The recorded data for steam
rate, for one, may have been inaccurate due to leaks on the channel. A Wilson plot was used to
generalize the experimental and theoretical values.
