Design of Slow Sand Filter Final

This document provides the design details for a slow sand filter system to treat 3600 cubic meters of water per day from Adavisomanal and 30 villages. It includes: 1) Calculation of the required filter bed area as 1000 square meters and determination of 8 filter beds each measuring 15m x 8.5m. 2) Design of the underdrain system including lateral spacing, diameter of perforations and orifices. 3) Design of the sedimentation tanks with dimensions of 16.5m x 5.5m each and details of the inlet and outlet structures. 4) Sizing of pipes to transport water from the raw water sump to the distribution box and between the distribution box

For uniform dispersal of flow of water provide perforated baffle wall in front of inlet pipe at 1.2 M away
