Commission On Christian Formation and Campus Ministry: Association of Catholic Schools of The Diocese of Iba

The Commission on Christian Formation and Campus Ministry is organizing a leadership training program for Catholic school students. As part of the program, students will undergo a two-day immersion experience living with host families in a local barangay. The Commission is requesting permission from the parish priest, Fr. Jun, to choose host families from a barangay within his parish jurisdiction. There will be two batches of students participating - the first from May 18-22 and the second from May 24-28. The immersion experience will take place on the third day for each batch (May 20-21 for the first batch and May 26-27 for the second). Students will bring their own food to not burden the host families.

May 5, 2014
REV. FR. JOSEFINO M. BERNARDO
Parish Priest
St. Augustine Cathedral Parish
Iba, Zambales
Dear Fr. Jun,
Greetings of Peace!
The ACSDI Commission on Christian Formation and Campus Ministry had been
organizing a leadership training program as part of the formation programs that
we are offering our students most especially those that are holding leadership
posts this in coming school year 2014 to 2015. Part of the design of the said
program is the process of immersion that the student leaders would have to
undergo.
This immersion process would be done with a barangay community that is living
a simple life so that the students might be able to experience the context of
simplicity and poverty. Since the Diocesan Formation Center is located within
your parish jurisdiction we determined that it would be very practical that we
choose the host community for the immersion from your parish. It is in this light
that I am writing you this letter. I would like to formally seek your permission and
coordinate with your reverence this aspect of the leadership program.
The leadership training requires that the students would be accommodated by
host families. Each host family will accommodate two students. The students
will stay with them for two days and one night. They will not be treated as
guests but will live as the host family lives. There will be two batches of
students; the first batch will have the leadership training from the 18th to 22nd
of May and the second will be on the 24th to 28th of May. The Immersion will
take place on the third day of the training which means that for the first batch it
will be on the 20th to 21st and for the second batch 26th to 27th respectively.
They will be bringing canned goods and rice rations so as not to burden the host
family with their food consumption.
I hope that this would gain your kind consideration and approval.
very much!

Thank you

In Christ,
REV. FR. ERIC DELA CRUZ
