The MPLAB X Simulator is a discrete-event simulator integrated into the MPLAB X IDE for debugging PIC microcontrollers and dsPIC Digital Signal Controllers. It models the operation of Microchip devices to assist with debugging software. The simulator allows selecting it as the debug tool and creating and using projects, as demonstrated in the MPLAB X IDE User's Guide tutorial.

Simulator Overview
MPLAB X Simulator is a discrete-event simulator for:
PIC microcontroller (MCU) families
dsPIC Digital Signal Controller (DSC) families
The simulator is integrated into MPLAB X IDE (integrated development
environment). The simulator debugging tool is designed to model the
operation of Microchip Technology's MCU and DSC devices to assist in
debugging software for these devices.
If you are new to the MPLAB X Simulator, you should begin with the
tutorial in the MPLAB X IDE Users Guide (DS52027) or on-line help. The
tutorial will demonstrate how to create and use projects, including
