Lecture

The document discusses different types of feedback amplifiers and classifications of amplifiers. It provides examples of positive and negative feedback amplifiers. There are four main types of amplifiers classified based on their input and output: 1) voltage amplifier, 2) current amplifier, 3) trans-conductance amplifier, and 4) trans-resistance amplifier. The document also discusses open loop and closed loop amplifiers using block diagrams and equivalent circuits. Finally, it provides an example of a Thevenin's equivalent circuit model of a voltage amplifier.

FEEDBACK CONCEPTS:

The amplifier is which the output or part of the output transfer to the
input by a network is called feedback amplifier. There are two kinds of
feedback amplifier :

1. Positive feedback

2. Negative feedback

Figure 1: Simple block diagram of feedback amplifier.

Positive feedback:

When there is no phase difference between the feedback signal and the
input signal then the amplifier is called positive feedback amplifier.

Negative feedback:
When any increase in the output signal results in the feedback signal in to the
input in such a way as to cause a decrease in the output signal, the amplifier is
said to have negative signal . If the feedback signal is of opposite polarity to the
input signal, negative signal results .

Classification of amplifier:

1. Voltage amplifier (voltage to voltage)

2. Current amplifier (current to current)

3. Trans-conductance amplifier (voltage to current)

4. Trans-resistance amplifier (current to voltage)
