Individual Circuit Rubric

The document outlines an individual circuit assignment where students are tasked with creating and presenting an original circuit prototype that can solve a practical real-world problem. Students must brainstorm a problem, design their circuit, program an Arduino board if needed, and present their solution. They will be assessed based on criteria such as the creativity and practicality of their design, the programming challenge it provides, and how clearly they explain the need or purpose of their circuit.

Individual Circuit Assignment

Terminal Objective: Create and present a circuit which can be used

to solve a real world problem.
Enabling Objectives:
-Circuit Construction
-Arduino Programming
-Brainstorming
Introduction:
As computers and electrical components get smaller and smaller and
cheaper and cheaper we continue to see smart technology creep in to
nearly every corner of our lives in the quest for better living. Your task
is to develop a circuit which can be used to solve some sort of practical
problem that people face. The problem doesnt have to be huge so
dont worry about trying to change the world- you would be amazed at
all of the small stuff you can get done with electronics.
Requirements:
Develop a circuit prototype which you will then present to the class.
You do not have to build any extra components, just the circuit. As an
example, lets say that you want to build a smart litter box for your cat
which automatically vents outside. You dont need to build the litter
box but you do need to present the problem as well as the circuit which
would allow you to solve that problem (like a fan on a timer circuit).
Assessment:
The rubric for this project is on the back side of this sheet so examine
it closely so that you can get the maximum amount of points and have
a clear idea about the expectations of the project.
