Main Components of Air

The document discusses the main components of air, which are approximately 79% nitrogen, 20% oxygen, less than 1% argon, less than 1% water vapor, and less than 1% carbon dioxide. It provides an analogy that if air was made into a chocolate bar divided into 10 equal pieces, around 8 pieces would be nitrogen, 2 pieces would be oxygen, and the remaining small pieces would be carbon dioxide, water vapor, argon, and other gaseous elements. The main components of air are nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide, which play important roles in plant and animal survival.

The Main Elements

(Components)
Nitrogen is the main gas in air. It is
essential for all plants and animals to
survive. It is necessary for food
production.
Oxygen is the second largest component
of air. Animals breathe in oxygen to live
and breathe out Carbon Dioxide.
Carbon Dioxide is what plants breathe.
They breathe out Oxygen. This process is
called photosynthesis, as we have learned
about before.
