Scenario
You have recently secured a place within a small business
called Service Express. The company is looking at installing
new software and upgrade some of their existing software
packages. The manager Mrs Arrowsmith is still undecided
about the upgrades and would like a presentation outlining
some of the key issues.
The following tasks will provide evidence towards Learning Outcome A
Task
You have been asked by Mrs Arrowsmith to produce and deliver a presentation
which will outline the benefits and implications of installing and maintaining
software on two of the technology systems used in the company.
An administrators work station which is mainly used for spread sheet development
and word processing.
There are a number of employees who use tablets running the android operating
system, these have not been updated since purchase.
Explain the benefits and implications of:
Installing new software
Maintaining existing software (configuring to meets user requirements,
update)
Provide an example of how installing and maintaining software in the administrators
PC could improve productivity for the person using that technology or the
organisation as a whole.
Currently the company use Open Office for most of their administrative activities.
Explain the advantages and disadvantages of this piece of software for the
organisation.
