The document provides an example calculation for a plum concrete mix to be used in an area of 8760 square meters with a depth of 2.15 meters. It calculates that 17,710 tons of plums, with an average size of 0.003375 cubic meters and weight of 9 kilograms each, will be required to add approximately 22 plums per square meter in each 250mm layer of the plum concrete mix. The total bulk volume of concrete required is estimated to be 7,600 cubic meters.

Typical example of plum concrete and calculation:
Specific gravity plum stone = 2.6, maximum size =200mm
Plum concrete mix 1:4:8 Area 8760 sqm with Depth 2.15 mts There shall be 8 layers of 250 mm and a final layer of 150 mm for 2.15 met depth. Concrete shall be done in panels. The exposed surface of each panel shall be roughened (hacked) for better grip with the adjoining subsequent panel. Total volume of Plums inserted into any layer shall not exceed 30% of the volume of the plum concrete layer. Total area to be Plum concreted = 8760sqm. Depth = 2.00met + final pcc layer of 150 mm Total plum concrete Qty for 2.00 met. = 17,536 cum 30% of plum concrete Qty. = 5,261cum Considering specific gravity of plums as = 2.6 t /cum. Total Weight of plums in Plum concrete = 13,679 Tones Hence quantity of plums for each layer of 250mm = 1710 Tones Plums per sqm per layer ((1710 / 8760) = 195 Kgs Assuming average size of plum 0.15*0.15*0.15 = .003375 cumet Weight of each plum of average size = 9 Kgs No. of plums to be provided / SQM in a layer (Approx) = 22 Nos. (Plums shall be inserted in pcc layer and not be placed as layers.) Concrete 1:4:8 ---------17536-5261 = 12275 cumet Bulk density tested =1800KG/CUM Total Bulk volume (Every trip was wieghed ) =7600CUM (This is very large in size was actually executed at TAPS by Afcon) Gist of calculation is how many av stone pebbles are required in one layer and what will be the bulk volume to be ordered.
