Piecewise Function

A piecewise function is a function defined by multiple sub-functions, each applying to a specific interval of the overall domain. It allows a function to take on different definitions over different portions of its domain. For example, a piecewise polynomial function is polynomial on each sub-domain, but can use a different polynomial definition on different sub-domains.

Function
Inmathematics, apiecewise-defined function(also called apiecewise functionor
ahybrid function) is afunction which is defined by multiple sub functions, each sub
function applying to a certain interval of the main function's domain (a sub-domain).
Piecewise is actually a way of expressing the function, rather than a characteristic of the
function itself, but with additional qualification, it can describe the nature of the function.
For example, apiecewise polynomialfunction is a function that is a polynomial on each
of its sub-domains, but possibly a different one on each.
