KEROSENE

Directions for use

Of
Camping Stoves Nos. 22 & 111
fitted with regulating and selfpricking burner
Note. To clean nipple, turn to
left, to shut off, turn to right,
for full flame, turn to centre.

Nr. 22

Nr. Ill

Open the lid of the box so that it forms a windshield, and pull
down the front port with the tank. Put on the wheel and turn it to
the right as for as possible, if the burner is not already shut off.
FILLING. Unscrew tank lid (A) and do not fill the tank more than
to 3/4 with best quality kerosene (paraffin). Screw on tank lid
tight.
HEATING. Give the pump 1015 strokes. Fill then the
spirit cup (B) with methylated spirit, through the hole (D) in the
top port of the burner. Light the spirit.
LIGHTING. When the spirit is almost burnt out, but not before,
open the spindle by turning the wheel a little to the left, letting the
gas out through the nipple. The gas should
ignite, if not, light with a match.
REGULATING THE FLAME. Turning the wheel a little
more to the left will give a bigger flame, to the right a smaller
flame. The flame should not be regulated with the cleaning
needle, i. e. with the wheel in cleaning position.
EXTINGUISHING. Turn the wheel to the right as far as
possible and leave it in that position.
CLEANING THE NIPPLE. The nipple is cleaned by turning the
wheel as far as possible to the left and then quickly back again.
Keep a lighted match ready, should the flame go out.
TO REPLACE THE CLEANING NEEDLE.
1. Take off the flame ring (C) and the windshield and screw out
the nipple with key No. 362.
2. Turn the wheel to the left and take out the cleaning needle
with a pair of small flat pliers or tweezers. Then turn the
wheel back to the right as far as possible.

3. Put in the new cleaning needle with the cogs against the cogs
of the spindle.
4. Turn the wheel 1/3 turn to the left to let 3 to 4 cogs pass.
While doing this keep the needle pressed hard against the
cogs of the spindle, so that a click will be heard for each cog
passed.
5. Turn the wheel to the right as far as possible and screw in the
nipple.
NOTE. If the cleaning needle is put in correctly, it should be
visible in the nipple hole after turning the wheel not more
than 1/3 turn to the left from closed position.
TO REPLACE THE SPINDLE PACKING. The procedure is the
some as when replacing the cleaning needle. Screw out the
nipple, take out the cleaning needle, screw out the box nut and
the spindle. Replace the pocking.

SOME IMPORTANT HINTS.

1. Use only best quality kerosene (paraffin) and always strain it.
2. Never fill the tank more than to 3/4 with kerosene (paraffin).
3. When the stove is not used, the wheel should be shut off,
otherwise kerosene (paraffin) may ooze out through the
nipple.
4. If the pump does not work satisfactorily, the leather packing
has probably become dry. Unscrew the pump lid and take out
the pump rod, oil or soak with kerosene the leather washer,
and replace the pump rod, taking care not to damage the
washer. This can be done without any risk while the burner is
burning.
5. If vapour leaks out at the regulating spindle, screw the
nut a little tighter.
