Reflection 2

(1) The document summarizes the author's second day volunteering at a school. Reflection 2

{1/2/2016 Second Day at AIS}


Morning Meeting:
I reach at 7:06 and I sign
in. I went to my class and
I saw the teacher and her
assistance
telling
the
student
to
draw
an
orange and color the
octopus because they
were taking the letter O.
Ms. Chantel welcomed me and told me that in each day
before the classes started they do an activity for the children
to keep them busy until they all came. Also she asked me to
be responsible of the other table that drawing the orange
and stick papers on it. I helped few children and explain to
them what they should do. After they all came the teacher
played a morning song for them, months and week songs
also.
Library:
At 8:55 on each Monday they should went to the library, the
teacher holds to student hands and walk with them to the
library other students were following her as well. Each child
return his/her books that they take last week, we all
sat down on the floor the teacher start to read for
them a story about sparkling fish the mean idea
was that everyone need to share their things with
others to be happy. After that other teacher came
with his students and talk to Ms. Chantel that his
students will read stories for her student, the other
teacher student seems like there were in grade 7 I

guess, so each boy/girl sat with the children and read for
them the stories that the children already had chosen.
Outside and Negotiated Play
From 9:45 to 10:35 it was the
outside play. First they eat
their meals, the teacher ask
me and my friend Aisha to
help the students that are
good in reading to read their
books again so they can
remember the words and their
reading skills will develop. I
took three children and start
seeing their reading and help
them if they make mistake.
After the meals they played on the playground.
Then at 10:35 it was the time for
negotiated
play
were
children
develop their fine and motor skills.
The teacher put for them a basket
and give them something to throw it
inside the basket but they shouldnt
cross the line that she put for them
to see if they can make it or not.
At 10:45 we have our break and the
teacher told us to come back when
we hear the bell ring. We back from
our break at 11:15, then they had the Arabic class until
12:05. After that they had their second meals, they played
with different games and in different centers. At 12:55 the
parents can came and toke their children. After the
children went home there was three children still didnt

went home, I sat with them and read for them a short
story till their parents came. I stayed there until 1:35.
It was a great day, I wasnt shy like the first day. I think
that trying to share with teacher and children their things,
read for the children some stories will help me to build a
good relation between me, children and the teacher. Also I
will have more experience by trying things out.
