    The following is an example environmental policy devised for the fictitious Australian
    Department of XYZ.

    Environmental Policy
    The Department of XYZ provides information to the public on the Australian
    Governments activities and policies. Its head office is in Parkes, ACT, and there are
    branch offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. The Department also has
    staff embedded in other government agencies in Adelaide, Darwin, Hobart and
    Townsville, as well as in Australian consulates in the UK, USA, Hong Kong and
    Japan.
    The Departments environmental management system applies to all operations and
    services of the Department at its head office and branch offices. Staff in other offices
    in Australia and overseas are expected to comply with the spirit of this policy in the
    context of the organisation in which they work.
    We at the Department of XYZ aim at achieving continual environmental improvement
    through implementing a management system with objectives and targets
    to
    minimise our environmental footprint
    by
    working with staff and other stakeholders
    through
    pollution prevention practices
    in
    compliance with legal and other requirements
    & be
    a role model for others to follow.
