Caitlyn

A Learning Story
How do you learn best?
According to Caitlyn, she learns best when she has the opportunity to
move and when the information she is learning is presented in a fun
way, like scavenger hunts and guest speakers.
What would you like your teacher to know about you?
Caitlyn would like you to know that she is really kind and helpful at
recess.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
Caitlyn would like to focus on improving her math skills this year..
What your teachers have to say about you
Caitlyn brings such a positive attitude and so much enthusiasm for
learning into the classroom. She really engages in class discussions
and loves to contribute to any and all discussions that are going on.
Caitlyn is full of energy and has quite the sense of humour and silly
side that we enjoy and embrace..

Janelle
A Learning Story
How do you learn best?
According to Janelle, she learns best during carpet time when she can
use a fidget.

What would you like your teacher to know about you?


Janelle would like you to know that she really likes to draw.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
Janelle would like to focus on improving her reading level and math
skills this year.

What your teachers have to say about you


So much to say about Janelle. She is a great listener, not only during
instruction time, but also in conversations with peers and teachers.
She asks great questions that show just how caring and engaging of an
individual she is. While Janelle is generally on the shy or quiet side, she
also has quite the playful side to her! Janelle tries her absolute best in
her school work, and her efforts definitely dont go unnoticed. She has
very neat printing, and her drawings are full of so much detail.

Myanah
A Learning Story
How do you learn best?
According to Myanah, she learns best when she can work by herself,
but be surrounded by her peers.
What would you like your teacher to know about you?
Myanah would like you to know that she has two sisters.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
Myanah would like to be quicker at an activity outside in the forest:
tree stump jumping

What your teachers have to say about you


Myanah brings such a positive attitude and kind heart to our
classroom. She tries her absolute best in her schoolwork, and her effort
doesnt go unnoticed; she has incredibly neat printing. Myanah is very
engaged and focused in her learning, and is a great listener too.
Myanah also isnt afraid to do things on her own and shows just how
capable she is in her independent work.

Kai
A Learning Story
How do you learn best?
According to Kai, he learns best when he can touch and play with the
things he is learning about.
What would you like your teacher to know about you?
Kai would like you to know that he has a hidden artistic ability. He can
draw cats and vehicles really well.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
Kai would like to focus on improving his math skills.

What your teachers have to say about you


Kai is incredibly helpful and will often help out around the class without
being asked to. He is also a caring friend who will wait until his friends
are ready before going outside for recess or lunch. Just as noted above,
Kai has an amazing artistic talent for drawing vehicles.

Kyla
A Learning Story
How do you learn best?
According to Kyla, she learns best when she can sit on a chair at the
carpet. She also learns well through playing games, especially when
its math that shes trying to learn.
What would you like your teacher to know about you?
Kyla would like you to know that she would like the opportunity to show
you that she is capable of working at the same table as Lucy.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
Kyla would like to focus on improving her printing.
What your teachers have to say about you
Kyla is extremely helpful in class, always willing and eager to help her
peers and the teachers. She also loves to write, and has shared such
great stories through her writing. Kyla shows enthusiasm for learning
and really engages and contributes in class discussions.

Grace
A Learning Story
How do you learn best?
According to Grace, she learns best when it is quiet. If she gets
frustrated she tells herself you can do this.

What would you like your teacher to know about you?


Grace would like you to know that she loves to and is really good at
reading.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
This year Grace would like to do harder math equations using 100s.
What your teachers have to say about you
Grace is such a gentle and kind friend and student. She works very
hard and tries her best at all tasks given to her. Grace loves to read,
and reads expressively in readers theatre. She also makes great
connections and is confident to share her ideas in small groups.

Van
A Learning Story

How do you learn best?


According to Van, his very best tool for learning is his brain.
What would you like your teacher to know about you?
Van would like you to know that he is very good at reading.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
This year Van would like to learn more math.

Van is great at problem solving in his learning and with his friends. He
has a great sense of humor, is considerate and is very helpful in the
classroom. Van is a strong reader and reads with expression when
reading aloud. Van maintains a positive attitude towards learning new
things which helps those around him.

Georgia
A Learning Story

How do you learn best?


According to Georgia, she learns best by having things she can hold
like her unicorn.
What would you like your teacher to know about you?
Georgia would like you to know that she is good at reading.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
This year, Georgia would like to get better at writing.

Georgia is a kind and caring student who gets along well with her
friends. She is very social and enthusiastic about art as you can see
her colouring her drum pattern in the picture.

Hayden

How do you learn best?
According to Hayden, he learns best when there are things to look at
and follow on the walls.
What would you like your teacher to know about you?
Hayden would like you to know that he really likes and is really good at
playing hockey.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
Hayden hopes this year he can spend more time in super centers.

Hayden is such a pleasant student in the classroom. He works very
hard on every task and has a sense of pride over his work. Hayden
shows incredible determination in his work and has such a positive
attitude that helps him and those around him work through more
challenging tasks.

Emily

How do you learn best?
According to Emily, she learns best when she is sitting beside a person
who helps her concentrate.

What would you like your teacher to know about you?


Emily would like you to know that she has a bunny, a cat and a dog.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
This year Emily wants to learn more about animals

Emily is such a kind friend to her classmates. She is very attentive in
class and is able to express her needs to help her learn. Emily is very
polite and focused on her work in the classroom. Emily has a good
grasp on what she needs to learn best and will make adjustments in
class independently so she may work better.

Owen
A Learning Story
How do you learn best?
According to Owen, he learns best when he is Whole Body Listening.
What would you like your teacher to know about you?
Owen would you like to know that he is eats differently than other
people, and likes to try new types of food.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
This year Owen would like to get faster at running in gym.

Owen brings so much energy to our classroom. He really likes sports
and loves to be helpful to his friends and his teachers. Owen has great

leadership qualities and works well with his friends as you can see in
the picture where he built an Inukshuk at the beach.

Tyson
A Learning Story
How do you learn best?
Tyson says that he uses strategies for reading and that they help him
learn. He uses strategies like stretchy snake. According to Tyson, he
uses division to help him do math. When he builds things, he likes to
make sure things fit before putting them together.
What would you like your teacher to know about you?
Tyson would like you to know that he enjoys gym and is really good at
it.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
During the school year, Tyson would like to work on doing more
dividing in math.
What your teachers have to say about you
Tyson brings an upbeat and positive attitude to the classroom. He is a
great communicator and makes meaningful connections while learning.
He is very attentive and thrives in structure.

Xavier

A Learning Story
How do you learn best?
Xavier knows that he learns best when he is in a quiet environment. He
says that when he is able to sit still and be mindful, he is able to learn.
What would you like your teacher to know about you?
When asked this question, Xavier says that he wants his teacher to
know that he has a lot of friends. He is also fond of making things. He
likes to go to make it centre, as you can see in the picture with his
paper cape.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
One things that Xavier would like to work on is having a louder voice
when he is reading out loud.
What your teachers have to say about you
The sense of humour that Xavier displays is infectious and brings joy to
the class. He cares deeply for those around him and looks to be a good
friend to everyone. Xavier makes deep connections to the lessons we
are learning. The picture to the right shows how helpful Xavier is to
others.

Zahara
A Learning Story

How do you learn best?


Zahara is able to learn best when she is able to listen to directions.
Clear directions help her to best complete her work. She also says that
she learns best when she is having fun.

What would you like your teacher to know about you?


When asked what she would like her teacher to know, Zahara says that
she loves math. She is also fond of reading and writing. Field trips are
another thing that Zahara finds interesting. The picture below shows
Zahara enjoying her time on a beach field trip.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
Working on more difficult math is what Zahara would like to work on.

In the classroom, Zahara is a very hardworker. She strives to get her
work completed. She is a great listener. When she contributes in class,
her contributions are valuable. Zahara is very playful with the teachers
and other students. She also has many deep friendships and
connections with those in class.

Jack
A Learning Story
How do you learn best?
In order to learn best, Jack says that making things out of boxes helps
him to learn. He recalls the time when he made Santa out of a box and
feels he learned a lot by doing so.
What would you like your teacher to know about you?
Jack would like his teacher to know that he is smart. He also would tell
her that he likes to make things.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
Jack would like to work more on having fun days, like a PJ day when he
can build forts.

Jack is such a gentle and loving student. He is extremely inquisitive
about the world around him. There is a funny and playful side to Jack
that brings light to class. He is able to express his emotions
appropriately. The picture on the right is a great example on how Jack
is a team player. Here he is building Inukshuks with his classmates.

McAllister
A Learning Story
How do you learn best?
To learn best, McAllister prefers to sit by classmates who are quiet
workers. He likes to write things down to learn and also finds moving
around helpful.
What would you like your teacher to know about you?
McAllister wants his teacher to know that he enjoys sports and that he
is good at them. He is a fast runner. He also enjoys being with friends.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
One thing that McAllister would like to improve over the school year is
becoming a more confident reader.

In the classroom, McAllister strives to do well. He regularly checks in
with the teachers. He is very involved in classroom activities and
participates well. With his positive attitude, McAllister is able to be a
natural leader. McAllister is able to communicate well with others.

Aidan

According to Aidan, he learns best by participating in conversation.

Aidan would like you to know that he really likes bats, talking and
running.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
Aidan would like to become more organized this year.

Aidan is an avid class contributor, he always has great ideas and
connections to add to discussions. His enthusiasm and energy is
contagious. He is also very helpful and kind. Something unique about
Aidan is his passion for dinosaurs, he has taught me some interesting
facts about them. He has very original and thoughtful ideas.

Sarah

How do you learn best?
According to Sarah, she learns best by whole body listening.
What would you like your teacher to know about you?
Sarah would like you to know that she is a good friend and really likes
animals.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
Sarah would like to become a better reader.

Sarah is very kind and considerate of others, although she is soft
spoken when she does share, it is always something very meaningful.
She gets along great with others and and is a good listener to both
teachers and friends. Sarah is very attentive and always knows what
she needs to be working on. She excels and seems to really enjoy
various forms of art.

According to Robin, he learns best when he is moving.

Robin would like you to know that he really likes lego.

Robin would like to get better at building complex lego structures by
using his imagination.

Robin is a strong reader and makes great connections throughout all

Anna

According to Anna she learns best when she can see pictures.

Anna would like you to know that shes nice.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
Anna would like to get better at reading.

Anna enjoys working in groups and works well with others. She shows a
sense of accomplishment and joy when completing a hard task, like
writing out all of the directions of the dreidel game, as seen above.
Anna is able to persevere with challenging tasks, even when something
is hard she pushes through and asks for help when needed. Anna
understands and uses the proper techniques needed to make a pinch
pot successfully, as seen in the picture on right..

Jacob

How do you learn best?
According to Jacob, he learns best by putting things together with his
hands.
What would you like your teacher to know about you?
Jacob would like you to know that he really likes quading.
Whats one thing you would like to work on or improve?
Jacob would really like to fix his quad as soon as possible.

Jacob is responsible and always cleans up after himself. He is very kind
and a good friend to other students. He likes to share his ideas and is
always willing to help out without being asked. He is very passionate

Lucy

always help her.

towards classmates and forms friendships easily. She thoroughly enjoys
exploring her creativity through art. She has a great imagination and
