This artifact demonstrates one way to monitor student learning in the subject of reading. This is a reading data sheet and
I use this recording sheet to align assessment with my Journeys instruction. The district goals and core standards are
aligned directly within Journeys curriculum and assessments. The weekly reading tests include comprehension,
vocabulary, and grammar. I also use this reading data sheet to record their spelling scores. I record the scores on this
sheet to help me understand what needs to be retaught and analyze the patterns in student growth and deficiencies. This
data helps to guide my instruction.
Reflection on artifact (what went right, what went wrong, how to make better)
The reading data sheet is such a great resource to use to help guide my instruction for reading. It allows me to analyze
the data, which guides me in important decision making in the instruction for my students. It holds me accountable to
analyze what struggles and strengths a student has in their reading skills. I use this sheet to provide feedback at parentteacher conferences, during SST academic meetings, and in my whole and small group instruction. The recording sheet
is such a great resource to use to help monitor student learning.
