OBJECTIVE
To improve the reliability of distribution
system through optimal sitting and sizing of
energy storage systems combined with
reliability evaluation technique and to
minimize loss of load supplied by successful
islanding operation
INTRODUCTION
The use and production of electricity are changing
to meet the customer requirements and to overcome
environmental problems. Incorporation of Distributed
Energy Resources (DERs) in distribution system leads
to improve system reliability and to decrease
electricity cost. Power generated from DERs is
stochastic, Energy Storage Systems (ESS) are utilized
for addressing the network disturbances. As ESSs
provides power to loads during network outages,
successful islanding operation improves system
reliability by minimizing loss of energy supplied to nonaffected loads.
So, ESSs are optimally sited and sized for most
cost-effective reliability.
EXISTING METHODS
Mathematical formulation was derived for sizing of ESSs to meet the
reliability of specific customers
Time series models are used for modeling the stochastic nature of
components
DRAWBACKS
Cost benefit analysis is not included
optimal siting of ESSs is not included
optimal load points to be shed are not included
Existing systems concentrates on improving reliability by considering
either optimal allocation of ESS or optimal sizing of ESS.
However, this system proposes a new concept in which both of these are
taken into consideration.
PROPOSED METHOD
Optimize the siting and sizing of ESSs for cost-effectiveness presented in terms
of willingness to pay
Optimize the load points to be shed to minimize total interruption cost
Probabilistic models will be considered instead of time series models
