Flash Via Hyper-Terminal

This document provides instructions for updating scale software via HyperTerminal in 8 steps: 1) Create a HyperTerminal connection to the scale's COM port at 115200 bits/second with no flow control. 2) Hold the V1 or PRINT key while powering on the scale to put it in update mode. 3) Connect the PC and scale with an RS232 cable. 4) In HyperTerminal, select "Send File" and "Xmodem" protocol. 5) Browse and select the update file then send. 6) The transfer progress is displayed. 7) The scale restarts after erasing and flashing. 8) Close HyperTerminal.

How to update the scale software via HyperTerminal?

1, Create a connection in the HyperTerminal.


Open the HyperTerminal program.
Click <START>, <PROGRAMM>, <ACCESSORY>,

<COMMUNICATION>,

<HYPERTERMINAL>.

Create a new Connection.


Input the Name of the connection. Such as 8442, select an Icon for the connection.
Click OK to the next menu.

Select COM1 as the connection type, click OK to the next menu. (Please confirm
the serial port number of your PC, it may be COM1 ,COM2, COM3 or COM4)

Select bits per second as 115200, Flow control as None. Click OK to finish the
creation.

The HyperTerminal shows the following windows. The 8442.ht has been created.

2, Hold [V1] or [PRINT] key and power up the scale. The scale shows Wait for HOST.
3, Connect a PC and a Scale via RS232 cable. The HyperTerminal will show CCCCC in
the window. That means the connection between PC and Scale is created properly.

4, Click transfer

send file to open the send file menu.

5, Click Browse button to find the scale code. Notice the Protocol is Xmodem. Click
Send to start the flash.
6, The screen shows the rate of process of transferring data as below:

7, The scale shows CHIP EARSING, FLASH LOW, FLASH HIGH, then restarts. The HyperTerminal
shows as below:

8, Click cancel button to exit the HyperTerminal.
