Import Configuration Errors


If an error of this type occurs, no courses or students are uploaded.
The error will have to be corrected and the course catalog or student
roster will need to be re-imported.
Error converting upload file (empty file?)
- The file received by the server was empty
* Verify your file has content
* Check the set COURSES_FILE= and set
ROSTER_FILE= settings in your settings.bat file
Missing type parameter
- File type ("--course" or "--roster") was not specified
* Check the lt-import.exe line for --courses or -roster) in your settings.bat file
Request is missing Domain ID (domain)
* Check the set DOMAIN_ID= settings in your settings.bat
file
Request has bad Domain ID (domain) - only digits allowed
* Check the set DOMAIN_ID= settings in your settings.bat
file
Request is missing import Password (pass)
* Check the set PASSWORD= settings in your settings.bat
file
Domain ID and/or Password are incorrect. Password set?
* Check the set DOMAIN_ID= settings in your settings.bat
file
* Check the set PASSWORD= settings in your settings.bat
file
* Have you set up a password in the "Course Admin" tab?
Internal Server Error

General Errors
Errors of this type can occur for one specific course or student, but the
other records may be added or updated. The error will be
accompanied by a line number of the data import file in which the error
occurred for your reference.
One or more required fields for importing [Terms|Courses|
Section|Instructors|Students] are empty
- Required column(s) are missing from the import file
* Line number will specify which records are affected
- Some items may have been imported without error. Look at the
.log file for specific line numbers that were not created.
Row conflicts with another row(s)
- All fields that specify the same item (term, course, etc.) must
match
- For example: If 2 rows have the same TERM, they must have
the same TERMNAME's.
* Correct the value and re-import
[(Field name)] is blank
- The specified field cannot be blank in the import file
* Fill column with required data
* Put NA or NONE if necessary and re-import
Bad [term|course|section|user] action code
- Valid codes are 'A' or 'D' (plus 'I' for student roster ACTION
code)
* Correct the value and re-import
More than one user found with given criteria
- More than one user was matched.
* Please provide more unique information, such as school
ID or email.
* The user has more than one active account. Contact
LiveText Technical Support to have one deleted.
More than one user has same School ID
- More than one user matched by student/faculty ID
* Reconcile differences.
* Did one user enter the wrong ID when they registered
their account?

Cannot create user - Contact LiveText


- Unhandled error

Unknown [term|course|section|user] search error
- Unhandled error

Course Catalog Related Errors


Errors of this type can occur for one specific course or instructor, but
the other records may be added or updated. The error will be
accompanied by a line number of the data import file in which the error
occurred for your reference.
Unknown term - Need to import term and course first
- The section refers to a term and course that don't already exist.
-The required fields to create term/course are missing.
* Add columns for importing of term and course
* Or, import the term and course separately
Unknown course - Need to import course first
- The section refers to a course that doesn't already exist.
- And, the required fields to create the course are missing.
* Add columns for importing of course
* Or, import the course separately
More than 1 term has same TERM (term id) - Contact LiveText
- Duplicate (conflicting) key exists in database

Manage User Privilege (MUP) Related Errors.


Errors of this type can occur for users who are College or Department
Admins who got control under Manage User Privilege. The error will be
accompanied by a line number of the data import file in which the error
occurred for your reference.
MUP admin cannot import new term
*User cannot create new term.
*User has to import course to already exist Term.
College name is optional for MUP admin if he has only one
college. Otherwise it is mandatory
*Importing Course catalog file without college field which is
mandatory.
Department name column is optional for MUP admin if he has
only one department. Otherwise it is mandatory
* Importing Course catalog file without Department field which is
mandatory.

College or Department admin cannot change Term Begin Date


and Term End Date
* Importing Course catalog file with invalid Term begin date or
Term End Date.
MUP admin cannot import new location
* Importing Course catalog file with new location which is not
allowed.
College Admin or Department Admin not allowed to change
StudentAction values to I (Inactive)
* Changing StudentAction to I(Inactive) status is not Allowed.
College Admin and Department Admin is not allowed to import
Place Holder user
* Importing or editing Place Holder is not allowed
College or Department admin cannot delete Term
* Importing Course catalog file with termaction as D or d which
is not allowed.

Warnings
Warnings will complete the operation requested, but additional steps
may be required for students or faculty to see the course in their user
account.
Faculty/Student user account is not registered
- Could not find this user account
- Or, user has not registered with LiveText
* Check to see if user has registered.
* If so, investigate why user did not match and manually
"merge" the accounts.
* If not, have user register. Accounts should merge
automatically.
* A placeholder account is created
Faculty/Student user account is not active
- User account was found
* Investigate why user's account is not active
* Reactivate if appropriate
