Addition Strategies:

We have been hard at work this week practicing the 4 addition strategies that we
have learned so far! These include: mental addition, using our fingers, using
manipulatives and drawing dots above numbers to represent that number.
Book Bags:
Book bags came home with everyone this past Wednesday. Inside you will find 2
books at your childs reading level, their letter or sight word baggie and a new
recording sheet. Please read the books and practice their letters or sight words
daily. All book bags and letter/sight word baggies are due EVERY Monday! You will
see your childs reading level clearly marked on the outside of their book bag.
Remember that the end-of-the-year goal is for each student to be reading at a level
D/E or higher! Many students came back to school after receiving the book bags
super excited to be reading! Happy Reading!
Winter Clothing:
Please remember that students will be going outside for lunch recess daily. Proper
winter attire is necessary. Hats, gloves, scarves, snow pants and boots are a must!
Raz-Kids and IXL:
We have a class login: cnorthrupa for Raz-Kids. Raz-Kids is an online reading
program. Each student will have their own shape to click on once logged in and each
students account is set to their individual reading level. Happy Reading!
IXL is an online math program. Usernames and passwords were also sent home this
week. Each day I receive an email allowing me to see the progress that each child is
making. Many of you have already begun completing problems, how exciting!
