Wearable Wearable Biosensors Biosensors Biosensors Biosensors

This document discusses wearable biomedical sensors, specifically a ring sensor and smart shirt. It describes how the ring sensor uses LEDs and a photoresistor to monitor heart rate and oxygen saturation by detecting changes in blood volume in the finger with each heartbeat. A smart shirt can also monitor physiological signals and record data to detect a patient's clinical state. While these wearable sensors allow for continuous, remote health monitoring, their initial costs are high and batteries have a short life. Overall, wearable sensors provide effective and mobile health monitoring that can help deliver affordable healthcare anywhere and anytime.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

Blood volume in the finger

g changes
g with the heart muscle
expansion and contraction.
This blood volume changes can be easily detected by photoelectric
methods.
Light emitted from LED is passed through finger and is directed to
Photoresistor.
O i l density
Optical

bl d volume.
l
If the blood volume increases, optical density increases, light
transmission through finger reduces & the resistance of photo
resistor increases.
Thus the voltage generated by photo resistor varies with the
amount of blood in the finger.
