SUNY Plattsburgh is trying to go tobacco free by June

1, 2015. Many other SUNY campuses have started this
movement, and SUNY Plattsburgh feels that it is their time
to make the campus tobacco free. Tobacco is a known
environmental and health hazard to people who use the
product and the others around them. To help start this
movement, SUNY Plattsburgh has to make a well-defined
message to get the word out about the tobacco free campus.

Situation Analysis

With the start of this campaign, we face many obstacles.

Since this is a college campus located in the middle of a city,
there are many visitors that walk and drive through the campus.
A clear line of the school and the cities properties are not well
known, so people are unaware of where they can and cannot
use tobacco products. Once limits are set, there also has to be
reinforcement for people who do use the product on campus.
Tobacco is an addictive product that is a norm in many peoples
lives. These new rules will be a huge daily change for many
peoples lives which can cause an issue with upcoming and
current students and faculty.

Situation Analysis

SUNY Plattsburgh wants to maintain a tobacco-free campus

with the help and support of campus community members.
