Scales

1) A forward vernier scale is constructed to measure up to 250m with a reading frequency of 1/2000. It is marked to show 156.75m. 2) A backward vernier scale is constructed to measure up to 400m with a least count of 0.5m. It is marked to show distances of 205.5m and 176.5m. 3) A forward vernier scale is constructed to measure up to 6km with a reading frequency of 1/40000. It is marked to show distances of 3.37km and 0.59km.

SCALES
1) Construct a forward reading vernier to show meters and decimeters and long enough to measure
250m. RF of the scale is 1/2000. Mark a distance of 156.75m.
2) The actual length of 600m is represented by a line of 30cm on a building colony plan. Draw a
backward vernier scale to read up to 400m. Draw the scale for a least count 0.5m. Mark on the scale
distance of 205.5m and 176.5m.
3) Construct a forward reading vernier scale to read distance up to decimeters with RF = 1/40000 and
long enough to measure 6km. Mark 3.37km and 0.59km on it.
4) Construct a diagonal scale of RF = 1/4000 to show meters and long enough to measure 500m. Mark
on it a distance of 374m.
5) Construct a retrograde vernier of RF = 1/50 and long enough to read 5m. Mark on the scale a length
of 3.54m.
6) On a map 4km is represented on 2cm.Construct a suitable scale to read up to 20km with an accuracy
of one hectometer. Mark a distance of 12.6km on it.
7) A room of 1000m3 volume is represented by 125 cm3 on a model. Draw a plane scale long enough to
read 30m. What is the RF? On the scale indicate a distance of 19.5m.
8) Construct a forward vernier scale to give readings of 1/10th of a mm upto 100mm. And mark on it the
following: (a) 81.3mm (b) 20.9mm. Select a scale 1.5:1
9) The distance between two towns is 120km. A passenger train covers the distance in 4hours.
Construct a scale to measure off the distance covered by the train in a single minute and upto 1hr.
The scale is 1/2, 00,000. Show on it the distance covered in 36minutes.
10) Draw a diagonal scale of RF = 1/20,000 to show kilometers and decimals of a kilometer. Mark on
the scale, the distance of 1.64km and 2.37km.
