THE APPLICATION PROCESS
1. Register for an account @ www.commonapp.org
2. If you already have an account, type in your email address & passwork & click Sign in.
3. If you do not have an account, click on create an account-go
4. Type in your email address and create a password. Record your email
address and password
5. Click on My Colleges tab add at least 1 college to begin with. ( Upon completing the common application, please add all of your common appl schools to your application. 6. Click on Common App tab. Go to Education section and complete 7. Go to My Colleges tab and select recommenders and FERPAclick on release authorization 8. Sign the Common App FERPA Waiver and Authorization 9. Click submit (a green check will appear beside FERPA) 10. Once you have completed the initial steps for the Common App go to Naviance Family Connection at www.connection.naviance.com/hisd-debakey 11. Click on Colleges tab 12. Click on Colleges I am Applying To (a blue text box will appear) 13. Enter the same email address that you submitted on your common application 14. Click on Match and submit 15. Click on the College tab again 16. Click on the Colleges I am Applying To tab 17. Enter all colleges you are applying to in Naviance 18. Include whether you are applying Regular or Early Decision 19. Indicate whether you will be applying by common application (only applies to common app schools) 20. In Icon will show up next to the school indicating what type of submission they will accept (electronic or paper) 21. Click on Add Request to request teacher recommendations. You may add a personal note in the box on the right, then click on update. 22. Click on Add Request to also request counselor recommendations (counselors names will appear in the list of teachers 23. Request transcripts on Naviance under the Request Transcript tab 24. If you update your college list or add colleges then you must click update at the bottom of the screen
