Educator Compact

The Diocese of Albany Educator Compact establishes criteria and accountability for Catholic school educators to teach the Catholic faith to students and support the mission of the Catholic Church. As part of the compact, educators agree to commit to teaching Catholic doctrine, recognize each student's learning style, and effectively manage their classroom to foster a safe learning environment. Educators also agree to participate in developing a challenging 21st century curriculum, use instructional technology, pursue continuous professional development, and collaborate respectfully with colleagues.

DIOCESE OF ALBANY EDUCATOR COMPACT

The purpose of the compact will be to establish criteria and maintain accountability for educators who
are dedicated to the teaching of our faith to our students and to the mission of the Catholic Church. As
a Catholic school educator I embrace, support and agree to:

Commit to teach students according to the Catholic faith, being a role model who continually
seeks to expand and share the knowledge of my faith.

Recognize and honor each students unique learning style in the classroom through
differentiated instruction.

Effectively manage the classroom to foster a nurturing, safe and challenging environment for
learners. I will exhibit strong organizational and preparation skills in order to achieve a
classroom conducive to the achievement of my students.

Actively participate in the creation and implementation of a challenging curriculum designed to


serve 21st century learners that will utilize data from a variety of assessment tools.

Use state-of-the-art instructional technology in a student centered learning environment and to


use this technology in planning, implementing, and evaluating curriculum.

Pursue life-long learning through continuous professional development following the policies
established by the Catholic Schools Office. I recognize I will be given the support of time,
opportunity, and resources to the extent possible to pursue professional development
experiences.

To be collaborative, flexible, respectful and supportive of colleagues within the Albany Diocese.
As an ambassador of Catholic Education I will project a positive outlook and a professional
approach in all communications.
