1) The author observed a Kindergarten class for their practicum and found the students to be respectful and enthusiastic learners who actively participated in class. 2) The students demonstrated behaviors consistent with Jean Piaget's preoperational stage of development through their play activities and desire for praise and attention from the teacher. 3) The author was surprised by how well the students knew Islamic hadiths relevant to their daily lives and how they were learning about combining colors.

My First Reflection

When I first arrived, I sat with my colleague. I noticed the learners coming
in with their parents or by the school bus, they all at first didn't seem
enthusiastic about learning. We got taken by the principle to the class we would
be observing. We automatically felt an equilibrium state set in once we saw the
class and the teacher, after talking to her she gladly accepted both of us. The
class was so suitable for our observation, and the teacher was very welcoming.
The learners were very respectful and enthusiastic when they were in the class;
they would try their best to participate. I've heard from other classes that their
kids were rude or noisy, ours, however, our class was very respectful towards
the teacher they would raise their hands and stand in order and listen. Seeing as
how we got kg 2 section 2 our students were in the preoperational stage that
Jean Piaget discussed. The students in the classroom proved the point in which
Piaget states "children also become increasingly adept at using symbols, as
evidenced by the increase in playing and pretending". Almost all the children
wanted to play in the role play center and act out as a family, where the mom
cooks and the father reads, and the kids play. They are also very egocentric;
they want the teacher's attention whenever they draw something or build
something. They love getting praised and hearing that they did a great job just
like we learned in Piaget's stages of development. However what surprised me

is that these students know almost every hadith that can is used in their daily
lives, it was fascinating. Also how they know that two colors can make one and
attempting it. It was a wonderful experience.
