Day 5

The document describes three types of transitions used in a classroom: 1) Moving students from free play to meal time, 2) Moving students from morning assembly to the classroom, and 3) Moving students from outdoor play to the classroom. For each transition, the strategies used by the teacher are outlined, as well as the efficacy of the strategies and suggestions for further development. Some strategies worked better than others. Making a line and giving clear directions helped transitions go more smoothly.

Type and
function of
transitions

Strategies
used to
facilitate
transitions

1. Moving
students
from the
circle
area to
the meal
place.

The teacher
stopped the
lesson then
asked the
students to
stand on the
yellow line
regularly to
wash their
hands and
set on their
places to eat
the snack.

2. Moving
students
from the
assembl
y
morning
to the
class.

The teacher
was standing
in beginning
of the line,
then she
leads the
students to
the class by
moving
around the
students to
follow her
into class.

Efficacy of
the strategy
in terms of
promoting
positive
behavior and
minimizing
challenging
behavior
Some of the
students
were noisy
and running
around the
class, and
that took
time to stand
on the line.
Also, the
teacher took
those who
were noisy to
the end of
the line.
Some of
students
were not
follow the
teacher and
run to the
play area
that took
time from the
teacher to
take them
back to the
class.

Suggestions
for further
development

The teacher
was managed
effectively,
but if I think
that if the
teacher had
go with them
and make a
line for the
snack, that
may keep the
class quiet
and more
organized.
The
transition
was not
managed
effectively as
I saw,
because
some of the
students
were not
moved with
the rest of
the class that
made the
others to do
same. I think
if she told
them each

two should
take others
hand that
may they
looks nice
and
organized.

3. Moving
students
from the
outdoor
to the
class.

The teacher
asked to
wash their
hands when
the rings
bell, After
that they
must make a
line each two
then go to
the class.

Some of the
students
took a long
time to stop
playing and
wash their
hands, And
the teacher
was moving
around them
to finish then
she was
waiting in
front of the
class door to
make sure
that all
students in
the line.

The
transition
was so
managed
effectively,
because she
shows she is
care about
the students
and look at
them while
they were
playing and
walk around
them. Also I
liked the way
how she
enjoyed and
played with
them that
shows how to
deal with
students.
