Educational technology used inside the classroom is


becoming more and more beneficial to students who use it
effectively. Different web sources are slowly surfacing that
can give educators and parents the ability to track student
progression. Student daily behavior, progress monitoring,
class pictures, and interactive games can all be accessed on
the Internet.
Parents play an active role in their childs life and
technology wants YOU to have full access to your childs
progression. Listed below are certain web sources I will be
utilizing in the classroom this year. Some sites are ones
that the class will be expected to use and create projects
with throughout the school year.

Edmodo is an interactive website that


lets students create a profile and have a
newsfeed that consists of posts made by the
teacher and other classmates. It lets students
and parents have access to grade book,
progression, awarded badges, and pertinent
information given by the teacher.

Facebook of education. It stays completely
private and only students enrolled in the
class and the teacher will be able to see the
information on the page. Students have the
ability to customize their own avatar, earn

Prezi is a type of presentation,
similar to PowerPoint. It provides more
interesting and appealing transitions
and layouts that are different from the
average PowerPoint slides. Prezi is web
based which means anyone can have
access to the presentation, instead of
having to download it to the computer.
All you need to do is make a FREE
account and create your profile. All your
presentations will save automatically on the
website and can be accessed from any
computer. I will be encouraging students to
use Prezi throughout the year for future
assignments. Prezis unique effects allow
students to be creative and try something
new. Prezi has an automatic zoom feature
for transitions, and more creative layouts
versus the standard PowerPoint slide
presentation.

-CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT**Having a good classroom management plan


can be the key to a smooth and successful day
inside the classroom. Each child deserves to be
praised for good behavior, and penalized for bad
behavior**

Classdojo.com is used for classroom


management. You can create a class online and each
student will have an avatar they can customize to their
liking. It uses a point system to keep track of behavior
throughout the day. If a student is on task and staying
quiet, they will receive a point. If a student is
disruptive, then they can loose point. This is a good
way to keep the classroom focused and on task. At the
end of the day, the points can be added up and certain
prizes or rewards will be given for students with a high
number of points. It also lets you track the progress of
each student. Parents can view their childs profile and
their progression at your leisure. Instant messaging is
also a way for parents and teachers to stay in contact
and aware of their childs behavior. Photos can be
shared, announcements are easily given, and it is 100%
private. Students really seem to love this method and
they look forward to receiving rewards from good
behavior.

Educational videos can help students understand and familiarize


themselves with content when they are seeing AND hearing the
material.

Watchkin.com is a site commonly


used for educators to show videos to
students without the risk of pop ups, ads or
inappropriate material. You can search
YouTube videos and other online videos
safely. YouTube tends to show obscene
videos and comments that children do not
need to be exposed to. But, there are so
many interactive and educational videos
that can be beneficial in the classroom that
need to be taken advantage of. Through
Watchkin, you get all the benefits without
the risk factors. I will be using watchkin
frequently in the classroom to show
educational videos that appeal to students
interest. Students seem to enjoy learning
more when they have a way to relate to it.
This site is family friendly and provides you
distraction free video watching. NO pop-ups,
NO ads.

Stupelix.com is an interactive
website that lets you create your own
videos. Much like a Prezi, they have set
templates and transitions, which makes
it extremely user friendly. We will be
using this sight in the classroom to
create things such as a trailer for a book
of their choice, a video portraying a
specific person or place, and to create
unique educational presentations to
express what they learned. Students will
be expected to create a video that will
teach the class a section from the book.
You have the ability to add music,
pictures, and videos from your own
computer, or uploaded from in Internet.
Students have the ability to truly
express their creativity and knowledge
through a video presentation. This site
also allows students to record their voice
and place it over pictures or text. This
helps gain presentation skills and social
skills. All students will be required
to complete a series of videos via
stupeflix.com during this school
year.

Quizalize.com is a site that is used by students to participate in online


quizzes that can be played against classmates, used for extra credit points, or
simply used as a test review. I send a group code, and the code is related to a
quiz that I will create. The quiz will contain questions that may appear on a
future test, or the quiz can be counted for a grade. I can also create games, or
homework assignments through this website. I will be able to see each student
ranking and there strengths/weaknesses. This is a great way to engage
students in an interactive way, while reviewing material. This is something
they can complete from home so they have as much time as needed.

Text2mindmap.com is a simple
mind mapping website that helps organize
thoughts and ideas. It formulates into a web
like structure to help keep track of material,
and to group together information. I will be
using this in the classroom during
discussions on broad topics. I typically will
create a mind map with the class, so they
can see how to do it at home. Students can
use this to help on writing assignments, and
study methods. Mapping out all main topics
can help organize thoughts easily to stay on
track.

classroom. I highly encourage exploring these sites
occasionally to keep updated. Everything I use in
classroom is 100% safe browsing and educational. All
accounts are free simple to join.
Your child will be using technology frequently so I
highly encourage letting them explore these sites at home.
Sit with your child, and learn with them. These all are
beneficial for parents because you will have the ability to
