ENG 1102 End of Semester Reflection Portfolio

RECAP: This semester you have engaged in a line of inquiry stemming from our course theme: popular
culture. You have conducted research which explored various conversations surrounding our theme and
understand more about it. You have had the opportunity to collect, read and annotate a variety of sources,
information and opinions regarding your inquiry. You have also had the opportunity to make this
semesters projects your own by including multi-model genre projects as to interpret meaning into your
topic of choice.

Argument for Grade: The easiest way for you to synthesize your work over the semester is to put
together an ePortfolio (through Weebly, Yola, Webs, etc) and have the work labeled.

These are some of the questions that you need to be


ready to answer:
Project 1: Initial Extended Inquiry
Can you specifically show me how this assignment has
enhanced your use of technology to create and write in
multiple genres? It shows this by having the different pages.
How about your research skills and avoiding plagiarism? It
shows my research through the different steps and the rough drafts.
How about your critical thinking skills? This is shown by the
journals and reading responses.
What about reflecting on your writing and choices you made?
This is shown through the various reflections posted on my site.
Project 2: Annotated Bibliography
How did this project enhance your research skills? It showed me
other websites and ways to get information on a subject.
Project 3: (Multi-modal project)

The class in general: What do you think you should get (as a
grade)? How do you think the class went? Did you learn
anything? How was your house group? I think is should get a B
because I turned in everything on time, put some extra stuff on the
website, and never missed a classed. I think the class went well. My
house group was very good and helped me a lot in this class.

Discussions/Journals/ Responses to Readings: respond to the


usefulness, timeliness, responses you got from others, and
anything else. I got good responses from everyone who replied to
me. They were very good ideas and helped me come up with different
ways to do my project.

Think about these words: organization, choice, evidence, proof,


communication, evaluation, persuasion, developed, investigate, reviewed,
revised, designed, integrated, demonstrated . . .
a. Which of the individual claims you make in the projects are
strongest/weakest? I think my organization is the strongest and the
weakest would be the communication part.
b. Is there a piece that was more important for you and why? The
organization was important because it gives people direction on where
to find things.
c. Is there a piece that was more difficult for you and why? The
development of everything was the hardest part.
d. If you think you have learned to make connections between
texts or learned to apply ideas from texts into your life, show
me where. I do not think I learned this.

e. Reflect on the processes that you went through with each


major piece. I would do a rough draft of everything and then get my
houses thoughts and make a final draft using their comments.
f. Did you discover anything new/interesting/insightful? I
discovered some interesting ways to view family.
Your own participation and effort in the class
a. Much of this class rests on the assumption that you are selfmotivated to participate, read, ask questions, help your
classmates, can (and willing) to navigate Moodle and do what
you need to do in order to succeed in the class. Although I
have my own view of who participates and who doesn't, I
would like your input here about yourself. I think I was okay in
this area because I attend class regularly and was able to navigate
moodle. I do think I couldve done better in the class participation part
of it.
b. You registered for the class did you do all you could to
succeed? I feel like I did everything I could to succeed.
