How do I get there?

Take the red line to Jackson, walk to the blue line on

Jackson, take the blue line towards Forest Park get
off on Halsted by UIC.

Whats the history of Greektown?

First arrival of Greeks in Chicago arrived in the 1840s as ship

captains

The Greeks settled in areas around Harrison, Blue Island and

Halsted

Starting off as food peddlers (mobile food shacks) and gradually

becoming restaurant owners.

With the Eisenhower expressway came the movement of the

Greeks (not too far
though) down a couple blocks North during the 1960s

From 1970 to the 1990s most present day restaurants were

established

In 1968 the most famous dishes such as the Greek Gyro and
Saganaki were introduced to the country by Chicagos Greektown
