December 2015
Principals Message
December brings a sense of anticipation and
excitement as we enter the season of Advent
and prepare for the birth of our Saviour. The
staff is looking forward to celebrating with you
over the next several weeks.
We are currently engaged in our annual Spirit
of Giving Food Drive. We have challenged our
school community to donate 2,500 nonperishable food items from now until December
17th. This year we are also supporting the 2nd
campaign of Jammies for Christmas. Many
individuals, in the South Grenville area, were
very supportive and 361 pairs of pyjamas came
from our 7 area schools. Many of these
pyjamas were given to some of the schools
children. The committee is hoping to have the
continued support from the schools again this
year. Thank you to our parent community for
supporting these very important activities that
benefit our entire community.
November passed quickly with students
participating in sports activities, Bullying
Awareness Week and Remembrance Week
activities. In December we have many activities
to prepare for a joyful event, the birth of Jesus.
We are encouraged to use light as our symbol...
to ignite our own light and use it to ignite the
light of others; to wake up the world to the light
that never goes out...the light that lights up our
whole life...the light of Jesus Christ.

SPIRIT OF GIVING CANNED FOOD

DRIVE

HEADLICE

St. Mark Catholic School

is pleased to announce that we
will be running our annual
Canned Food Drive until December 17th. Each
class will be involved in a friendly competition to
raise the most cans and to reach the North Pole.
The winning class will receive a prize, but the big
winners will be those in need in our community.
Thank you for your continued support of the
local Spirit of Giving Campaign. CAN MAN
will be awarded daily to the class with the leading
number of cans! WHERE WILL CAN MAN
END UP? The challenge is on!

Please continue to diligently check your

childs head at least once per week for
HEADLICE over the holidays.
WINTER WEATHER
Just a reminder to all parents that we ask you to
ensure that your children are properly dressed
and prepared to enjoy all outdoor recesses.
Mitts, hats, boots, snow pants, ski suits and/or a
winter coat allow children to enjoy the outdoor
weather. A change of clothing, extra socks
and mitts are a great idea. The extra clothing
sent in the book bag often saves the parents a
trip into the school. Please label your childs
outdoor clothing. It helps us to identify the
items when they have been misplaced.

Being Active as a Family. Finding the time

and opportunities to be active as a family can
be a challenge, especially when the
environment around us is built for our fast
paced world of speed and convenience. This
means we may need to do a little more
planning to find what fits well with our own
familys schedules and preferences.

S is for the Star that shone to guide the

shepherds there

T is for the Travelers who brought Him
