Reading Response 8

The document is a reading response discussing revision in writing. It notes that many students do not properly revise their work, and tend to revise by growing on what is already written rather than refining the argument. Experienced writers focus more on revising the emphasis and argument of a paper, unlike student writers who focus more on repetition. The response also found two revision models discussed in the reading to be confusing, with long quotes that were difficult to follow.

Reading Response #8
1. The models of the writing and composing process have nearly made revision absent. This
is similar to speech because after you say something you cant revise it, there is only an
afterthought.
2. I feel like most students dont properly revise their work. They revise like Brittons model
explains: grow on what you already have written down.
3. The question she says that students frequently ask themselves (pg. 581) is so accurate. I
ask myself these questions as I am reading through my paper.
4. Experienced writers focus on the argument or emphasis of the paper, whereas student
writers focus mostly on repetition. This shows that experienced writers have a better
grasp on the meaning of revising as opposed to students.
5. The two models were confusing to me. I didnt fully comprehend what each model was.
The quotes she used were very long and hard to follow.
