Week Two
Week Two
Day two:
For today, I repeated the lesson from the last day. But, this time I repeated for
section one. I start the class by greeting the students and introduce myself. I asked
the students to move from their seats to the carpet, using a song. In the carpet
circle, I asked the students to sing days of a week and months in a year. Then, I
asked them questions about the day (what is today, what was yesterday, what will
tomorrow be, how many days in a week, what is the date of today, and about the
attendance). However, I asked them to move again to their seats with the song.
And as the last time , I start with a short activity that includes revision about the
preposition words, when I used the bug in the box. To move to the first activity
which is Bingo, I have changed the steps this time to avoid wasting time. Instead of
putting the pictures on the whiteboard, I gave each group different cards and let
them choose and say the sentences for the whole class. And for the next activity,
which is the puzzle, I have improved this time. I asked the students to get the final
picture, and say the sentence for the whole class. Then, each student will write a
sentence describing the picture. First, I model the activity for the pupils. I show
them an example (different picture from the picture they have). Then each group
will work alone. While they are working I will support them and help them. After they
get the final picture they have to write a sentence describing the picture. In
contrast, in the first time I introduce this activity I asked the students to work on the
puzzle and in the same time write the sentence, which this makes some of the
students confused. Adding to that, after they wrote the sentences I gave them
points for their individual work instead of giving the whole group ( some of them will
affect on the others). I am satisfied about my efforts for today because, I
achieved some of my PDP goals, which I was able to manage the time in the
way I want.
Day three:
Today my MCT is coming to observe me. I prepared for the lesson and I tried to not
be nervous. The lesson today was about using the preposition in describing things. I
started the lesson with the circle time, where I asked the students to sing days of a
week and months in a year. Then, I asked them questions about the date and the
attendance. And , then the students moved to their seats. The transitions were with
singing a song. However, I start telling a story for the students about ( Ms Bug is
in the classroom), the story about moving a bug in the classroom in different
positions using the preposition. Im really satisfied and happy because, the students
were laughing, focus, and feeling happy when I was acting the story. After I finished
with the story , I asked the students about the story and I gave them a short
activity. The activity was reordering the events (first, the bug was behind the
students. Second, the bug was in the box. Third, the bug was in front of the board.
Fourth, the bug was on the book. Finally, the bug was under the tables). With this
activity, I used the flash card to review the preposition and I asked them to show the
meaning physically. Then, I moved to the next activity, I distributed for each student
a card, each two students get the same card. Then, I said the description using
preposition, and the students who get the picture stand. Thats , show me who
understand and who still need more practice. On the other hand, I gave students
worksheet to work on it individually and write sentences describing the picture. I
gave the first five girls a point in the reward system. Then, I gave them puzzle
having a different picture for each group (including preposition). At the end of the
lesson, I gave students homework in different levels (high level, medium level, and
low level). In this way, I will scaffold students in what they need and take them to a
higher level.
Day four:
Today, I didnt teach. But, I observed the teacher to learn more from her experience
in teaching. Whereas, I observed the students that I think they need help to achieve
what they asked to.
All the activity I used and applied to the students, make them engaged, motivated,
and excited. The most important, that it help and support the students in learning.
Adding to that, day after day I feel Im close to students and my MST, which make
me happier and satisfied.
