What is WCE?
Cloud compatible, virtualized IT platform hosting telecom applications
Capable of hosting multiple real time telecom application such as RNC, SCG, EPC (PCRF, MME, PGW, SGW), LMS,
ALPS
Supports Single or multi-technology solutions
Large configurations built by adding additional commoditized IT hardware
Evolution toward software only model deployment on top of existing data centers or customer hardware
Why WCE?
First step toward supporting a virtualized RAN/Core by hosting real time applications over a virtualized IT platform
Foundation platform for ALU next generation products such as RNC, microEPC, LMS over IT
Unmatched by any competitor product
Evolution Plan
Step1 short term: Market launch in 2014 supporting the RNC application
Step2 medium term: Expand the tenant list to support SCG, LMS, ALPS, EPC/uEPC
Step3 Long term: Support software only model

Fully redundant 5 9s architecture field proven
New features introduced with Software Upgrade (e.g. HSDPA, HSUPA)
because of generic computing architecture No new hardware needed
Only reason to upgrade Packet Server card is for additional capacity

FEATURE DESCRIPTION
9370 RNC capacity growth with DCPS has reached its limit. 3G
data traffic continues to grow exponentially year over year.
Enhanced Dual Core Packet Server (eDCPS) is introduced as an
alternative to the existing DCPS to enable future capacity growth of
the RNC compared to the 9370 with DCPS.
By default, the eDCPS will provide the same capacity as DCPS.
The capacity increase will be available through software upgrade
DCPS and eDCPS simultaneous support in the same RNC at isocapacity.
FEATURE VALUE
RNC increase capacity through software without additional HW need
CAPEX saving: Immediate investments in eDCPS at iso- capacity is
less costly compared to adding DCPS and then replacing them with
eDCPS when additional capacity is needed.
