HDL NCP

A 54-year-old female smokes 2 packs per day and consumes a high-fat, high-calorie diet without regular exercise. Her lab tests show high triglycerides, total cholesterol, and LDL and low HDL, indicating undesirable food choices. Her nutrition intervention plan includes increasing intake of nutrient-dense, high-fiber, low-fat foods; attending smoking cessation classes; and referring her to a personal trainer and smoking cessation counselor. Goals are to start an exercise routine, normalize lab tests within 3 months, stop smoking immediately, and consume a low-fat diet. She will be monitored with follow-up calls and retesting of labs and diet within 3 months.
