AC #2: Operations Management in Early Childhood Programs

Understanding of the basics of system theory and the ability to apply that understanding to the
operation of quality early care and education programs

Ability to design and implement systems within child care programs

In Operations Management we learned about working with regulators and developing systems for

implementing and maintaining programs and policies. By creating a credible source for continuing
education for my staff, I can keep them up to date with the Registry while providing useful and enriching
content. I will use workflow analysis to guide me as I implement the new program by creating a timeline
for completion and specifying individual responsibilities. Upon completion, I will analyze the format of
the pilot program to make improvements to future workshops by using personal reflection and asking
participants to complete a brief evaluation. The evaluations will be a valuable tool for examining the
success of the workshop and tailoring future workshops to the needs and interests of the community.
