Dear Parent or Guardian,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Samantha Weller and I
will be your childs Eighth grade Science teacher at Deer Valley Middle School. I love teaching
science and I hope to share this passion for science with your child. I am dedicated to ensuring
each student has the opportunity to learn and grow as much as possible. The main objective of
my course is to cover the fundamentals of science and explore the different facets of science.
My content includes brief overviews in the area of Earth Science, Biology, and Chemistry.
Specific information on those topics will be provided in the syllabus sent home with your child.
Please take the time to review the syllabus together with your child. There is a place for you and
your child to sign at the end of the syllabus to indicate you both understand and support the
expectations for this class. Students should return this portion to me by Friday.
My door is always open and I look forward to meeting with you and welcome any and all input
regarding your childs education. I am available by phone and in-person each day before and
after school by appointment. For any communication or to schedule a meeting, you may contact
me via email at [email protected] or 602-740-8082.
Sincerely,

Teacher Samantha Weller

Dear Ms. Principalia,
I am writing to apply for the 8th grade Science teaching position at Deer Valley Middle School. I
am a graduate from Arizona State University with a masters degree in Neurobiology and a
secondary education teaching certificate from Mary Lou Fultons Teaching College, making me
highly qualified in the field. I am a 12 year Arizona veteran teacher and this is a very exciting
opportunity for me.
I am highly qualified for this position at your esteemed establishment because of my unique skill
set and team member attitude. I was the science department chair for 12 years at Highland Lakes
Middle School in which I coordinated department specific activities to enhance student learning
and retention. My time at Highland Lakes has given me great communication and organization
skills that I have used throughout my long teaching career. I have a positive attitude and I am
very passionate about teaching science. These qualifications prove the dedication I have for this
career and my students.
If I was to attain this position my goal for this year is to get all of my students well versed in the
fundamentals of science so they have a clear understanding for the future. I have much to
contribute and I am looking forward to gaining new experience in this establishment. I would be
a valuable addition to your faculty.
If you have any questions for me I can be reached by phone at 602-740-8082 or by email at
[email protected]. Thank you again for taking your time and for your consideration.
Sincerely,

Samantha Weller

Dear Parent or Guardian of Jason Becool,
I have enjoyed teaching Jason and having him in my classroom. He is a good student who has
always been actively engaged. However, today he became an active distraction to the other
students in class. Even after repeated attempts to console him, Jason became increasingly loud
and verbally violent to several other students. This behavior continued after many attempts for
compromise and mediation and the situation became uncomfortable for many of the other
students in class.
According to school policy, any student who refuses to follow directions and actively becomes a
distraction to the learning of the other students must be removed from the classroom
environment. This is why Jason was sent to the Dean of Students today. He spent the rest of
class period in the front office and away from the classroom.
I realize this incident must be alarming and frustrating for you but I want to assure you that I care
deeply about Jasons success in school. I have spoken to Jason and we have discussed the
reasons behind his behavior. I asked him to let me know in advance next time he is feeling that
he is having a bad day so that we can avoid any future incidents. I know Jason is a good student
and I am more than willing to work with you to resolve this issue. If you would like, we may
schedule a meeting together to discuss what happened today and work together to come up with
the best possible solution. Please contact me at [email protected] and let me know
what you would like to do. I am available every day after school and I am confident that we can
find a positive solution to this issue if we work together.
Sincerely,

Teacher Samantha Weller
