Just in Time Manufacturing V/S Synchronous Manufacturing: Submitted By:-"Group-10"
MANUFACTURING
Just-in-time production focuses on sourcing raw materials just in time for factory use
according to a production schedule; it helps manufacturers be able to store low
quantities of raw materials whereas, Synchronous manufacturing ensures that a
manufacturer processes raw materials into finished products in the order that
customers place orders, or first-in/first-out.
JIT uses KANBAN system which uses containers for holding parts. This allows easy
identification and monitoring of inventory levels whereas no such provision in
synchronous manufacturing.
JIT like synchronous manufacturing does an excellent job in reducing lead times and
work in process but is limited to repetitive manufacturing and requires a stable
production level.
JIT does not allow very much flexibility in the products produced.
