Puisi Unity

The poet describes their spiritual journey seeking unity with God. They recount abandoning their previous futile searches and fully devoting themselves to pursuing divine love. Through divine grace, their soul is released from worldly constraints and they achieve a state of oneness with the beloved, experiencing joy and beauty at being face to face. In this ultimate unity, their selfhood and individual attributes are lost as their soul and God's become perfectly mingled without beginning or end.

UNITY AND REUNITED

Ensnared was I between two doors, compellingly,

Faith or infidelity, unity or apostasy!

My earlier quest for the One,

wert exercises in futility and undone,
Sipp'd not the elusive wine,
nor fill'd this cup of mine.

I hasten'd my journey in breathless pursuit,

travers'd the primrose path with readiness to suit.
With vivid visions of final glory,
fired by unceasing love for Thy beauty,
impassion'd and consumed by mystical mystery.

Lo, my first quest was without meaning,

like the first ray of morn,
compared to the dizzying ray of noon.

Let me out of this stifling space,

release me from the shackles of worldly embrace.
Return me to the timelessness of yore,
to premordial existence to consumate my score.

Glory be to Thee,
who forsake Thyself from Thy devotees,
except whom who proclaim disabilities.

Since selfhood I renounc'd utterly,

I ascended the steps to the absolute Purity.

'Though Thou art near,

- and I was distant,
thru' ardent love in our hearts dear,
We bade farewell to separation.

Of this bondage we both consumated,

it was preordain'd, as ordinance of my Beloved.

From whence the seed of love was planted in my breast,

hither the appointed time it wakes from rest.
Liken to the seed in the oceans of the desert,
or the pearl in the depth of the ocean-bed.

The breath of Divine Grace and intervention,

bestows life in uncanny fashion.

From deep recesses of my soul,

unfold my inward consciousness,
- of its nothingness!

With tresses and curls lifted,

face to face with my fair Beloved.
I gazed upon Thy Beauty unhinder'd,
evok'd deep sense of joy and mirth mingl'd.

Plumbing deep upon love communion,

inebriat'd and blissful from love reunion.

Me this ultimate unity be,

reliving the present beyond past reality.
Foresaking relations in humanity,
abandoning materials the source of anxiety.
Distancing the known from the unknown,
Killing the self from the selfhood bond.

Hitherto, in my Beloved I became transform’d,

Wielding attributes as His norm.

In the ocean depth of gnosis,

My own attributes were amiss.

Our souls became one mingl’d,

Our personalities became One bedazzl’d.
Of this wondrous state,
There was not a beginning.
Nay, never is there an ending!
