Direct Proportion
Examples.
1. A man earns P5000 in 20 days. How much will he earn in 30 days?

2. There are 750 chickens and 450 ducks in a farm. Find the ratio of the number of
ducks to the number of chickens.

3. The ratio of the length of a playground to its width is 5:2. Find its length if the
width is 20 m.

4. The ratio of Jims money to Williamss money is 4:7. If Jim has P220, how much
money do they have altogether?

Partitive Proportion
1. Ronnie, Ralph and Joseph divide P936 in the ratio of 2:3:7. How much will each
one receive?

2. Three numbers is in the ratio 2:3:7. What is the largest number if the sum is 312?

3. A string 120 cm long is cut into 2 pieces in the ratio 1:4. Find the length of the
longer piece.

4. There are 40 pupils in Matulungin class. If the ratio of the number of boys to the
number of girls is 3:5, find the number of girls in the class.

Indirect Proportion
1. An amount is shared equally among 9 people and each of them gets P480. How
much will each get if there are 12 people?

2. 14 equal pipes can fill a water tank in 18 minutes. Find the number of pipes
required to fill up the tank in 21 minutes.

3. 7 pipes can fill a water tank in 6 hours. Find the time required for 9 pipes to fill up
the tank.

4. If 6 men can paint a wall in 64 hours, find the number of men required to paint
the wall in 48 hours.
