T: Boys and girls, today we are going to be using our pattern blocks. I want you all to watch me
right now. Can anyone tell me what I am doing?
S: Sorting by color.
T: Sorting, thats right. Now I dont want anyone to tell me the answer, I just want you to think
about it in your heads. How else could I sort these pattern blocks besides by color? Just think
about it dont say it. Ok, now turn to your right and share your answer with the person next to
you. See if they came up with the same answer. Do this quietly. Now all of you please tell me the
answer.
T: Go ahead and sort your own pattern blocks by color.

T: About one more minute.

T: We will be working more with pattern blocks, but we are done with them for today. Please
pick them up and count with me. One, two, threeand ten. Pass in your papers. Pass in your
cups.
