b)
Plant Manager
Verify the Marking Checklist filled and checked by the supervisor.
QC Personnel
Make sure all the work or process is conjunction with the API monogram marking
requirement.
c)
Supervisor
Make sure all required information is obtained before starting the marking.

Valves that meet the requirement of ISO 14313 and API Spec 6D shall be marked in accordance
with the requirements of Table 1 (Appendix B) and Table 2 (Appendix C). PTBMI API
Monogram license number (6D-1322) is only being used and marked in conjunction with the API
Monogram.
4.1
Marking Method
a. Body/cover/closure stamping shall be performed using a low-stress die-stamp, rounded
V or Dot Face type.
b. Each valve shall be provided with an austenitic stainless steel nameplate securely affixed
and so located that it is easily accessible.
c. The marking on the nameplate shall be visually legible.
4.2
Identification Markings
On valves whose size or shape limits the body markings, they may be omitted in the following
order:
a. manufacturer's name or trademark;
b. material;
c. rating;
d. size
For valves smaller than DN 50 (NPS 2), the nameplate can be attached to the valve with the
stainless steel wire. The nameplate and serial number may be omitted by client agreement.
*NOTE: The purchaser can specify requirements for the marking of valve components.

If the valve with one seat uni-directional and one seat bi-directional, the directions of both seats
shall be specified on a separate identification plate as illustrated in Appendix A: Figure 1. In
Figure 1, one symbol indicates the bi-directional seat and the other symbol indicates the unidirectional seat.
4.3
Marking checklist for API 6D is being used to monitor the marking conformance as required by
API product specification. This record shall be maintained for a minimum of 10 years.
5
Adapter and loose connections of API 16A manufactured in accordance with the American
National Standard by PTBMI shall be marked in accordance with the procedure and requirements
of API 16A and Table 3 (Appendix D), Table 4 (Appendix E), Table 5 (Appendix F), Table 6
(Appendix G), Table 7 (Appendix H), Table 8 (Appendix I).
Equipment shall be stamped on the product with the product description code (PDC) or
alphanumeric code, followed by ISO 13533 or API 16A and PTBMI API 16A licence
number (16A-0360).
5.1
Marking Method
a. Low-stress-area marking
Using of sharp V stamping for identification on low-stress areas (such as nameplate,
outside diameter of flanges, etc.).
b. High-stress-area marking
Using of dot, vibration or round V stamping for identification on high-stress areas.
Sharp V stamping is allowed in high-stress area only if subsequent stress-relieving is
performed to the component.

Other end connectors (OEC) and flange connector shall be marked on the exterior surface as
specified in Table 9 (Appendix J).
6.1
Identification Markings
Marking Method
a. Using of dot, vibration or round V stamping for identification on low-stress areas.
b. Conventional sharp V-stamping is acceptable in low-stress areas, such as OD of the
flange.
c. Sharp V-stamping is not permitted in the high-stress areas.
d. Nameplates are not required if the information is permanently marked on the body or
connector.
e. When equipment has weld metal-overlaid ring grooves, the ring gasket type and number
shall be followed by CRA to designate a corrosion-resistant alloy or SST to designate
an austenitic stainless steel.

f. Hardness test marking if hardness are required for bodies, bonnets or end and outlet
connectors, the actual value of the hardness test shall be stamped on the part adjacent to
the test location.
g. Other end connectors (OEC) the following shall apply:
i.
Other end connectors shall be marked with OEC following the size or pressure
rating.
ii.
Clamp hub end connectors shall be marked ISO 13533 following the size and
pressure rating.

Nameplates
Nameplates, when required, shall be made of a corrosion-resistant material. The API monogram
shall be marked on the nameplate, in addition to the marking requirement as shown in Table 9.
PTBMI API Monogram license number (6A-1474) is only being used and marked in conjunction
with the API Monogram.
6.5
Marking checklist for API 6A is being used to monitor the marking conformance as required by
API product specification. Record required by API product specification shall be listed in API
Monogram Record List. This record shall be maintained for a minimum of 5 years.
7
Nonconforming Product
If the product subsequently found to be nonconforming with the API specified requirement, the
API monogram should be removed by grinding off the marking. Record of non-conforming
product shall be maintained and retained. See procedure of QSP 510 01 Control of Nonconforming product.
8
Marking Procedure
a. Workshop manager hand over the Shop Order Form (PRO-5711-01) to the supervisor.
b. Supervisor will prepare all the necessary equipment and ensure all the equipment is in
good shape.
c. Supervisor will check on the serial number and information which will be marked on the
nameplate valve component or loose connector.
d. Supervisor will make sure all the information is correct.
e. API Monogram Stamper will mark the nameplate using nameplate marking machine.
