Introduction
Hello room 22, this is our presentation on the Fibonacci Sequence or The Golden
Ratio. We hope you enjoy and learn lots!

Fibonacci
Fibonacci was born and died in Pisa Italy, he lived from 1170
to 1250 he was 80 when he died. Fibonacci was a very good
mathematician.
What he Did
Fibonacci brought the golden ratio to the west in 1202 he is also responsible for
introducing arabic numerals so numbers, you know, like 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9 instead
of Roman numerals like l ll lll lV V Vl Vll Vlll D: X . Anyway the golden ratio is these
numbers in this order 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21 34 55, it is found all through nature so if you go
and pick a flower and count how many petals it will have 3 5 8 13 or 21 unless its
genetically modified or something like that. Rows of seeds, pinecones, flowers and
even living animals have the Fibonacci sequence for example bunnies if you put two
together theyll make a third and then five and then eight and so on and so on. The
Fibonacci sequence is even found in the ocean and breaking waves and we are part of
the golden ratio even the whole universe is formed using this sequence!
Did he Invent it.
The truth is that he didnt invent it, the Greek people found it out long before
Fibonacci and they called it PHI, it was commonly used by Phidias an ancient
greek sculptor, he used it to create the idea of physical perfection he used it as a
ratio for the height and thickness of his statues.
For example Leonardo da Vinci drew the
Vitruvius man from the golden ratio.
His History
Even though he was born in Italy he was educated in South Africa no one ever
believed him because like all other famous intelligent people they were a bit crazy
when it came to figuring something out.
