1. General
----------
This CD-ROM contains the AMM (AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE MANUAL) A340 in PDF format.

2. Installation
---------------
Getting started...
1) Insert the CD-ROM in the drive,
2) Double-click on the "Start.pdf" file.

Adobe Reader software...


To view the PDF (Portable Document Format) files available on this CD-ROM you
will need Adobe Reader installed on your computer. If it is not the case, this
software can be downloaded for free from the Adobe Systems Web site at:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
After the download is complete, double-click the newly downloaded file and follow
the instructions on the screen. After installing the Adobe Reader, all files on
the CD-ROM with the PDF extension can be started by double-clicking the
file.
NOTE: Airbus does not provide any support for the procurement of Adobe Reader and
its use. Please contact Adobe or your merchandiser directly.

Stand-alone/network environment...
When you work in "stand-alone" mode, Airbus recommendation is to keep the data on
the CD-ROM (not to be copied to the harddisk). This is to ensure the "Read Only"
aspects, i.e. that data can not be modified.
However, if you would like to install the CD-ROM in a network-environment and
copy the contents of the CD-ROM to a server, please follow the instructions below:
1) Create a dedicated folder on your server (e.g. "A340_AMM").
2) Copy the "Start.pdf" to the new folder "A340_AMM" (root level)
3) On each network-client that needs access to the manual:
a) create a shortcut to the file "start.pdf" on the server,
b) make sure that Acrobat Acrobat Reader version 4.0.5 (or later) is installed.

3. CD-ROM Structure
-------------------
Rootdirectory:
- Start.PDF (The master Start-up and data CD-ROM file in root segment)
- Readme.txt (The file you are currently viewing)

Subdirectory "Data"
- *.PDF (All supporting PDF files needed for the Run)

4. Minimum Required Configuration

- 64 MB of RAM for Windows NT
- 128 MB of RAM for Windows 2000

Software: Adobe Reader (version 4.0.5 or later)

Windows XP
Pointing Device: Any Microsoft Windows compatible mouse
Monitor (color): 17" 1024 x 768 SVGA
Printer: Postscript compatible Laser Printer
CD-ROM Drive: CD-ROM (or DVD-ROM), Jukebox or Tower-unit (speed min 4x)
Hard Disk: Free memory for installation of Adobe Reader (e.g. 10 Mb
required for Adobe Acrobat Reader version 4.0.5)
