CPM Problem Examples

This document provides sample exercises on using the critical path method to analyze project schedules. It contains three exercises: 1) Analyze statements and construct a network diagram following given node names, 2) Find the critical path of a given diagram, and 3) Determine the critical path of another given diagram. The goal is to practice using the critical path method to identify the longest path through a project network that determines the minimum project duration.

NAME: _________________________
A. Analyze the given statements then construct the diagram. Follow the given names of
nodes.
1. Activities H, R2, T1 start the project.
2. Activity T2 can start when Activities H, E1 and S are completed.
3. Activity E1 also depends on Activity R2.
4. Activity X follows Activity H and precedes Activity L.
5. Activity E is preceded by Activities T2 and P1.
6. The predecessors to Activity G are Activities L, T2 and P1.
7. The successors to Activity T1 are Activities E1, S, W and D2.
8. Activity P1 cannot begin until Activity W is finished.
9. Activity P2 and F follow Activities W and D2, and precede Activities E and R1.
10. Activity O2 depends on T2 and P1 , and precedes Activity L.
